who we are
about aztronaut:

I started Aztronaut in 2002 with the aim of providing small businesses with visually compelling, easily navicable, informationally robust web sites. There appeared to be a large number of small business who could not afford the expense of developing and maintaining a website, and I was confident that I could offer superior solutions at competetive prices.

I discovered quickly that I had something in common with many

dynamic web sites:
The word "dynamic" refers to an interactive system or process. In the case of a web site, it means a site with content that is searchable, responsive, and updatable.
We provide clients with a site and the means to customize it. We use server-side technologies which enable a client to easily update and expand the content of their site, while maintaining a consistent look and feel across browsers and platforms.

open-source technology:
As the web has matured, developers have called for consistent standards. Many have emerged. Most commercial solutions are proprietary, using closely guarded code. Open source products are developed and maintained by a community of programmers who have a common interest in promoting the use of the product. This process allows the development of much more robust code.

Many web technologies are open source, including the Apache web server, which runs over 50% of the world's web servers, the Perl programming language, which is behind most of the dynamic content on the web, and the mySQL database, an increasingly popular database which powers some of the biggest sites on the web, including Yahoo.com.

At aztronaut, we believe that open source development will outpace the development of proprietary technologies, and will emerge as the dominant standards among competing web technologies. As such, we use open source software to develop scalable, portable sites with the future in mind.
